Snowmageddon -dun dun dun-

In my state we're about to get 8 to 12 inches of snow by tomorrow morning. This is pretty awesome because I'm not scheduled for work and my classes will be canceled, sooo it will just be me, my dolls, and Mr. Sewing Machine all day. :)

My poor bank account

I should never ever be an accountant. XD Now if only I could find that money tree to so I could buy a Dollstown girl, that would be awesome.

Just a Boring Thursday

Not much to report today, just anxiously awaiting my Bernard. Here is a quick photo of Felicity with her newly clean head and proper eyes. If only I could master the sideways look when positioning eyes. She always looks like she has a wandering eye when I try it. XD

Grrrr

So I found my eye putty and got the cords and stuff for my machine, but I can't figure out how to resize this pattern I found and the fan died on our computer so I'm using our little laptop which would be fine exceeeeept the shift key doesn't work so it's making things difficult. I just wanna throw a dress together really quick, but I don't think that's gonna happen today.

I did add a bit more to her faceup, but I don't like how dark the eyes turned out so I just switched to the blank face for now. XD

Sewing Machine Time

Almost. Got my sewing machine from my parent's house but didn't get the cord for it. XD Not that my Bernard will be here anytime soon, but I would like to try and figure out something to do for clothes. I am order #125, so he will be shipped in 8 weeks. Also, whenever I get enough money I'm going to place an order at Alice's Collections, so I will definitely post pictures of all the 70cm clothes and how well the MSD sizes fit the minifee bodies. Now I'm going to try and find some patterns fro 70cm boys.

:(

Where. is. my. eye. putty.
?
Knowing that my cats love to wait until precious doll things fall from the bookshelf so they can play with it, it could be anywhere. I just wanted to try on her default eyes in the newly cleaned open eye head and take a few pictures, but I guess that won't happen today. Also, I have some reading to do before work so I'll be prepared for class tomorrow. Why can't I just get a degree in painting dolls or something? Because I'm pretty sure I will never use the information that I'm about to learn in biology.

Removing faceups

is not nearly as hard as I anticipated, thankfully. I finally got around to removing the faceup on Felicity's open eyed head the other day.

First I went to the Hobby Lobby and bought Windsor and Newton brush cleaner, it's only like six dollars. Then I gathered some makeup remover pads (that have a nice "exfoliating" side) as well as some q-tips and paper towels.

This is a shot of it before I started (I rotated all of the pictures, I have her sitting back where her headcap goes.) You can see a bit of the gloss I used on her eyes here. And the terrible faceup XD It was my second only after practicing on the puki headplate I had gotten because of an event. You can actually see a bit of where the top of the lip had started to chip off.

Here is a bit later, after some rubbing. The w&n brush cleaner works so good! I wouldn't want to bother with nail polish remover, even if it's acetone free or whatever, that just makes me nervous. The w&n gets a bit thick after it's been sitting on the face for a little while, you can see the fuzzies of the pads stuck to her face in it. So far so good, everything is coming off nicely, or so I thought XD

I have worked a bit more after this picture was taken, but DANG I should not have been so obsessed with blushing every little bit. I didn't have toothpicks so I improvised with cutting the q-tips at an angle, and that worked well for the space in between the lips.

Also, I was so sure to tediously blush inside and behind the ears, and believe me, unless you plan on having a bald doll or they have elf ears, DO NOT BOTHER. It is more of hassle than anything. I also blushed not just around, but inside the nostrils. Oh the lessons you shall learn when actually working on a doll. XD I need to not be so ocd about having things be perfect when it comes to my dolls. The only parts left are the tear ducts and a teeny tiny bit inside the ears, and then it's time to wait for it be get warm so my MSC won't freak out on me.

Well

if every other crafty/doll person has a blog, so will I XD I would like to have a place to keep my progress in the hobby for reference, besides rants and such. I currently own one bjd (ball-jointed doll) a MiniFee Marcia from Fairyland, as well as a doll from Tonner and a Pullip from Jun Planning. In about 8 weeks I will also have a Dollshe Bernard shipped to me. Very excited! I'm not familiar with blogger so I will post more information when I figure out how to.
